It’s been almost two and a half years since I left my corporate job and I’ve had a thrilling and surprising realization…
As of today, I am completely booked for 2014. Instead of booking two months in advance, I am now booking FOUR months out and taking on clients for 2015. For me that is a huge sign of success. My schedule is filled enough that I can relax knowing that I have work and my bills will be paid and I’m also able to choosy with who I work with.
But the point of this post isn’t really to toot my own horn (though I am pretty proud). Instead I want to use it as an opportunity to give you a little push. (ok…we know I prefer a giant shove) I know there are a lot of you reading this thinking, “Damn – I want to do that!” or “How did she make that happen??”
And I want to remind you that it was not an overnight success. I don’t have lots of blogging or design friends in high places. No one else promoted me or paved/paid my way. I put years into my work and my business. I prioritized and I made sacrifices and I kept my eye on the things that were important. Which are all things you can do as well.
Whatever IT is that sounds a million times better than your day job. Whatever keeps you up at night and fills the pages of your blog. Whatever you bring up in every conversation. You can do that. It might be scary, actually I’m sure it’s scary, but I’m also sure it’s worth it.
