This week we’re talking about communities, which is kind of a funny topic for me to be excited about because I am super introverted and I love working alone. LOVE. IT.
Like on the couch, with my laptop, in my quiet apartment, typing away all day long. No one asking questions. No one needing anything from me. No one interrupting my flow.
I’ve been working alone for 8 years now and I’ll be honest, as much as I love it, sometimes being a solopreneur does get lonely. So today we’re talking about the importance and the benefits of joining a community, yes even for my fellow introverts.
And… I’m spilling the beans on the big business shift I’m about to make and letting you know exactly when you can get access!
Being a solopreneur is my jam. It’s one of the reasons I left my corporate job and started freelancing. Being able to make decisions on the fly. Not having to collaborate or ask for permission. Not having to take meetings or go to events. No one distracting me 50 times a day.
I love working on my own stuff, on my own time.
But I’ll be honest, sometimes working alone gets lonely. Most days I’m only talking to myself or my dogs all day. And my boyfriend will always listen to my ideas and encourage me but when I start talking about email funnels and landing pages he totally glazes over. He understands it but there is a different level of nerdy excitement that comes when you’re in it, obsessed with it, all day long.
Over the past couple of years I’ve come to appreciate how impactful a community can be even for introverts like me. Having a space to ask questions, get feedback or just see what other people are doing is incredibly helpful. And I’ve discovered that there’s another level of engagement and support when people have paid to be part of the community. There invested in the overall experience, not just showing up and asking questions for their own benefit.
And I’m not the most active community member, but I’ve found (and was actually kind of surprised and impressed) that just existing in a community where people are working hard and they’re taking action every single day can help you feel motivated and inspired on your worst days.
Just last week I was working through some mindset issues because I’ve got a big business shift coming up and I didn’t even ask questions or share my own stuff, I just scrolled through the Facebook group and used those good vibes to raise my own vibration and get back in the game.
You don’t always get that same effect from self-paced courses, or free resources, or even a podcast like this. There is another level of support and encouragement that’s extremely valuable and it comes from reaching out, joining a community, investing in your growth.
I’ve also realized that I enjoy being a little fish in a big pond, being uplifted merely by watching coaching call replays or scrolling through the facebook group. Seeing how business owners far ahead of me are doing things, what they’re focused on, what questions they’re asking.
And getting all of the details of what’s happening behind the scenes and what’s working and what isn’t. Not just the end product we all see on Instagram, which can bring up a lot of imposter syndrome and comparison-itis. Seeing all the details breaks it into info and data and not just something impossible to live up to.
Being part of a community also means that you don’t have to do all the experimentation yourself. I’m a huge advocate of experiment and trying things, but it does take a lot of time. Being in a community where other people are testing similar things helps your business to grow faster because there’s less trial and error. You don’t have to test everything yourself, you can get feedback from someone who has already done it and skip all the indecision and figuring things out.
I’ve seen this in my digital product coaching program. I’ve been running it for two years, have had six groups of business owners go through it. And the same thing happens every time. The first coaching call is always a little awkward but within a week everyone is friendly and supportive and encouraging of each other. And my students have not only me to ask for advice, but all the other students in the program. I subscribe to the idea that I’m not the be-all, end-all expert and my groups are always full of talented, thoughtful, hard working business owners, so instead of me just answering questions we’re actually have discussions and moving forward as a group.
So take it from this introverted, baby hermit of a business owner – You can be a solopreneur but you don’t have to go it completely alone.
Which is why I’m making a big change in my business. I will no longer be selling single, self-paced courses. I want to make sure that my courses, coaching, and community are not only more effective but more accessible.
Which means that starting this coming Monday, October 26th – The Productive Solopreneur, Grow Your Gram, Dare to Email, The content planning kit, the confident creator, along with my brand new bullseye brand story training will be available within my brand new membership Dare to Grow: The Essentials.
Yes we are putting all of the marketing essentials in one spot so you can get access to everything all at once, plus coachings calls twice/month, and a rad community for support whenever you need it.
My goal is to make sure you implement the essentials that are necessary to grow your business – your email list, your content plan, your social media strategy along with the foundations of a clear and focused brand story.
And not so secretly part of my motivation is to connect more of you together because I’ve got some rad women hanging out with me online and you all need to meet.
With the number of courses and programs, plus all the free content that’s available. Putting those essentials in place can actually be more challenging than people make it look. You’ve got 500 options for everything and no clear answer on what’s the best for your business and your audience or where to start first.
We’re gonna fix that.
So you’re not stuck wanting to do everything with zero focus, feeling like you’re going in too many directions at once, stalled because you’re worried about putting time into something that might not work.
I want to make sure that you have the motivation and accountability to make plans and follow through. To feel confident in showing up and clear in your message, to use your limited time to its full potential, and actually turn your audience into customers or clients.
I want to make sure that all your work, actually works.
Membership to The Essentials officially opens on Monday, October 26th but you can head over to xosarah.com/essentials for all the info!
If you’ve purchased a course from me before you will keep access to that course. And if you have any questions on any of it you can send me a DM on Instagram @xosarahmorgan.
